Wind / your starting point

Calculate a wind indication.

Enter your electricity use and representative wind speed for an initial indication. This tool does not replace a technical assessment.

Indicative · calculation model not validated

A first indication for wind energy

Start with your electricity use and long term wind data for your site. The result is an initial indication, not a yield forecast or turbine recommendation. Confirm the wind conditions and equipment with a technical assessment.

01 / ELECTRICITY USE

Average monthly electricity use (kWh; minimum input: 1)

02 / WIND AT YOUR LOCATION

Representative average wind speed (m/s; input range: 0–60)

Use long term wind data at the intended hub height for a meaningful assessment. The Windy map shows a surface level weather forecast; a single map value is not a long term average. The map does not fill this field automatically.

Additional context (optional)

Household size and house area do not affect the calculation. You can leave them blank. This calculator does not send an enquiry.

03 / YOUR INDICATION

Your result.

Enter the two values and choose “View indication”. Your results and the next steps will appear here.

This tool does not calculate financial savings or send an enquiry.

Assumptions and limitations

Annual consumption equals monthly consumption × 12. The model uses 8,760 hours per year, a fixed capacity factor of 0.25 and a linear wind index from 1.3 to 6 m/s, bounded between 0 and 1. These assumptions have not been validated against a turbine power curve; the wind index is not production efficiency. Indicative bands are 1, 2, 3 and 5 kW. Above the 5 kW band, no turbine size is shown: the model cannot distinguish larger requirements.

EXPLORE YOUR LOCATION

See the wind. Understand your site.

Explore the forecast around your location. For the calculator above, use a representative long-term average at the planned turbine height. Current surface wind is not a yearly production forecast.

Discuss your result with us.

Bring together your electricity profile, available space, long term wind conditions and the documentation of the equipment. Discuss installation, maintenance and the complete project cost before making a choice.
